Commercial Projects in Brooklyn & NYC
Plan a commercial space around how it will be used. ALH Design Group brings layout, building character and project coordination into one design process from our Brooklyn studio.
Begin with operations and the property
For a new commercial building or an alteration to an existing space, we start with the business program: who uses the space, how people move through it, and which functions need to work together. Available building records and the intended use help identify the questions to resolve before the layout develops.
Develop the interior and exterior together
Entrances, circulation, room relationships, daylight and material choices all influence how a commercial property performs. We consider the facade and the interior as parts of the same project, developing an architectural direction that responds to both the building and the business.
Coordinate the disciplines
Structural and building-system requirements can affect the plan from an early stage. ALH Design Group provides architectural, structural and MEP consultation under the agreed scope. BDP Expediters Group supports DOB filings and approvals coordination, while Técnico Special Inspections Agency provides special inspections where separately engaged.
Carry the design into documentation
As the project develops, concepts become coordinated drawings and details. The architectural scope can extend to support during the construction and closeout process, as agreed. We discuss required information, consultant responsibilities and the next deliverables before advancing each stage.
Common questions
Can you help evaluate a space before a lease is signed?
An agreed feasibility scope can help identify layout and coordination questions before you commit. Share the available records and the decision deadline.
Who handles engineering and special inspections?
Those services are provided through the relevant affiliated practices under their respective scopes. The architectural work is coordinated with them as the project requires.
